Stockton police reach deal with city
News

STOCKTON, CA - The Stockton police officers union voted by a wide margin to ratify a new labor contract with the city of Stockton.

The deal, which was already approved by union leaders, but still left to a vote, was approved by 146 "yes" votes to 55 "no" votes.

Stockton Police Officers Association President Sgt. Kathryn Nance said the contract maintains benefits and stabilizes salaries for officers.  She also said the agreement should help slow the flow of officers seeking better deals from other departments.

The Stockton CIty Council still has to give its approval to the deal, a move that should come during its meeting Dec. 11.
