2013 Weekly Challenge #1: An Attitude of Gratitude

2013 Weekly Challenge #1: An Attitude of Gratitude

Happy New Year!

Mama Bootcamp is kicking off a great 2013 with a weekly challenge.  These challenges, in addition to your Bootcamps and homework, will help us all to have our very best year yet!

We are kicking off the year by focusing on living with an Attitude of Gratitude!

Start off the year by actively being thankful for all the good things in your life. Remembering to be thankful for the good stuff - big and small - can help you get your "attitude on right." Whatever you focus on gets bigger and more important. So instead of focusing on the less positive (something you are angry about, negative feelings about a job, etc.) and making those things more important, take a minute to feel thankful for the positives in your life.

Start keeping a Gratitude Journal. Every day, write down three things you are thankful for. Every entry must be different every day.

What a great way to start 2013!... Read More

2012 Weekly Challenge #49: Say No to the Good, and Yes to the GREAT!

2012 Weekly Challenge #49: Say No to the Good, and Yes to the GREAT!

'Tis the Season, right?

The season for parties, family commitments, shopping, wrapping up projects at work, charity events, Secret Santa, visits to Santa, Elf on the Shelf, open houses, white elephant gift exchanges...the list goes on and on and on.  What this adds up to is one very full calendar, and one exhausted Mama!

How many things on your list do you really want to do?  I don't mean what are you willing to do, or what you fell you "should" do, but what do you WANT to do?

This week, we challenge you to say NO to the good, and YES to only the GREAT.

Next time someone asks you to do something, no matter what or who it is, say yes only if it is something you really want to do.  If it isn't something great that will make you feel happy and good, then politely decline and fill your time with something better.  Think about what YOU want to do, and make it happen... Central Valley dentists continue history of treating those in need

Central Valley dentists continue history of treating those in need

The prolonged recession hasn’t just clobbered the Central Valley’s financial well-being. The decaying economy has also had a rotten effect on the teeth of area residents.

“A loss of jobs has resulted in a loss of dental insurance for many,” said Deborah Horlak, dental hygiene director at University of the Pacific’s Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in Stockton.

“People have greater dental needs now than ever before, but if the choice is between buying food and paying bills or receiving dental care, many will forego treatment until they are in pain.” Budget cuts have aggravated the situation. In 2009, 3 million adults were left without dental care when the state eliminated most Denti-Cal services. All $3 million in funding for the California Children’s Dental Disease Prevention Program also was cut, removing school access to dental care for low-income children.

STOCKTON -- The teenage boy found stuck in a chimney will not be charged for his rescue.

George Herrera, 18, apparently was trying to sneak back into the house after missing his curfew and tried to go down the chimney.

Herrera had been stuck with just his feet dangling out for about 90 minutes.

Firefighters eventually used ropes to bring him back up.

The rescue took approximately 15 minutes.
