Watch out for mosquitoes!

The San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District warns residents that recent rain and warming temperatures are ideal conditions for mosquito production. Mosquitoes develop in standing water.

District manager John Stroh said, "We need all residents of San Joaquin County to check their property for any standing water. It takes only a tiny amount of water to breed mosquitoes."

Containers, old tires, leaking faucets, children's toys, tarps, buckets, and wheel-barrows are among items property owners should inspect.

Neglected pools are also prime breeding places for mosquitoes. If you are unable to properly maintain your swimming pool or know of one that is not maintained, call the San Joaquin County Mosquito and Vector Control District for assistance.

IKEA recalls SNIGLAR cribs

Furniture store IKEA has recalled all SNIGLAR cribs 70x132, for repair. The company said the four bolts provided with some of the SNIGLAR cribs to secure the mattress support, are not long enough to extend through the lock nut and give visial confirmation of correctly assembly, even though that may not be the case.

If incorrectly assembled, the mattress support could detach and collapse, creating a risk of entrapment and suffocation to a child in the crib.

Customers who purchased the crib should check it immediately. If the mattress support bolts extend through the nut, the bolts are the proper length and the crib is not included in the recall.
