Stockton, CA -- Lindy Larson is full of smiles as she pours a variety of award-winning wines at Sorelle Winery's tasting room on Route 88 in Linden -- an easy exit off Highway 99 east of Stockton, southeast of Lodi.
Located on the historic Dodge Family Estates, in 1776 this land was fishing grounds for the Miwok Indians until Jonathon Holt Dodge built his home in 1886 that's preserved on the property today. He and George West planted one of San Joaquin County's first vineyards.
Sorelle -- translating as "sisters" in Italian -- is owned by real-life sisters Kim and Melissa Scott who focus on Italian varietal wines such as Pinot Grigio, Barbera, Sangiovese and the outstanding 2010 Primitivo that won a Gold Medal at the 2013 San Francisco Chronicle wine competition.
"Primitivo is Italian zinfandel," explains Lindy as she pours a taste of this excellent Sorelle wine that's now in short supply.
