Abba Vineyards grows Grenache comparable to “Pinot Noir”

Michael McCay, the owner/winemaker of McCay Cellars, believes that Lodi might have discovered “its own Pinot Noir.”  He’s thinking, however, that it may be red wines made from the Grenache grape. “There is a lot of potential for Grenache in Lodi,” says McCay.  “It may become one of the great grapes of Lodi, right up there with Zinfandel.  It’s the perfect fit for our Mediterranean climate.” Wherefore the Pinot Noir analogy?  Explains McCay, “We can make can make an incredibly elegant style of wine in Lodi because of our consistent, predictable growing season.  The sun comes up over the Sierras.. Enjoy wine tasting and specials at Third Thursdays!

Third Thursdays is a 3 month wine tasting series on the Miracle Mile. On May 16, June 20 and July 18, Third Thursdays will feature specials and wine tasting at each participating merchant location. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at With Garden Flair, Dragonfairy, That's Showbiz, Green's Nutrition, Gluskin's Photo and Rae's Rags and Riches. 

Tickets can be purchased on the day of the event as well. For guests with tickets, simply stop by one of the locations on the night of the event to exchange your ticket for an etched wine glass, a map of participating locations and a list of specials offered.

Music, appetizers and fun activities may also be offered at various locations.
