Delta College reports 2 robberies in stairwells | Crime

STOCKTON, CA - Delta College police have placed undercover officers around stairwells after one robbery and one attempted robbery in recent days.

Monday, two males approached a male who was alone on the west stairwell of the Locke building and demanded money from him, said Officer Jim Bock. No weapons were seen. The robbers ran off in an unknown direction.

On Thursday, Aug. 16, a female student was alone in the Shima building stairwell when a man grabbed the strap of her purse, Bock said. The tugging forced the student to fall down and hit her head. Bock said she wasn't hurt and the purse strap didn't give so the thief got away with nothing.

Two similar incidents in stairwells were reported in the spring semester at Delta. No one was caught.

Bock said the only similarities among the incidents is that the robbers have targeted those walking alone and the victims were in stairwells.
