STOCTKON, CA - Stockton continued its march towards eclipsing a record 58 homicides in 2011 on Monday night.

Lieutenant Lee Kissel of the Stockton Police Dept. said the city recorded its 46th homicide of 2012 on Monday after officers responded to the area of San Joaquin and Sonora Street at 9:48 p.m. and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The gunshot victim, whose identity was withheld, was only described as a 27-year-old black man.

This was Stockton's 46th homicide of 2012.
